The scope/goals for this release:

• only the 'node' entity type is supported, other entity types may follow later
• support for in-place editing of nodes rendered inside Panels pages
• code/feature parity with Drupal 8's Edit as much as possible
• extensive hook_requirements() checks so that the status report is as helpful as possible
• a drupal.org-whitelisted Edit-optimized build of CKEditor, so that you can easily integrate Edit with distributions

Changes since 7.x-1.0-rc2:

• #2180669 by Wim Leers: Edit's status report claims attributes on fields are missing, even though they aren't missing
