I'm getting my fingers burnt on my first real drupal project. I am building a website I intend to demo for use at my college. After much search I settled for phpedu. It kind of captures all I had hoped to build around the site. However, I've not really been able to get the package running properly. Just hoping that someone in the forum can be of assistance.

First of all, one of the first issues I encountered with the phpedu was its lack of documentation. The package is superb, but would do well if it had an installation guide. Then I had to compare the two releases of the package, the beta 1.0 and beta 2. I installed beta 2 and got some error messages about user_readonly tables not existing in the database. I decided to install it manually and searched the user_readonly package, only to discover that it has no install file. So I still have that error message poping up all the time.

I then decided to install the beta 1.0 and then upgrade the core to drupal 5.7. This I did with considerable success, but I cant help feeling that I'm missing some thing by using the beta 1.0 as against the beta 2. What do you think?

Anyway, wether beta 1.0 or beta 2, I just really need some one out there who could give me some guide or assistance with the installation procedures for the phpedu package.

Thanks to Y'all.

Cheers.

Your best bet is probably a mailing list or forum for phpedu.
This forum could help with Drupal-specific issues, but your problems are specific to phpedu which most people here haven't heard of.
Also, I'd be slightly nervous about running beta software in a production environment.
