I was just wondering which modules I could use for a pet site, to allow users to create profiles for their pets.
A bit like:
dogster.com/dogs/46640/in/stroll/
doggysnaps.com/kennels/daisysmum/daisy/?PID=276716
I guess, cck for the fields for the profiles?
But what about adding relationships between 'nodes'? (ie friends list for each pet)
And how about 'leave a dog a bone' 'a present' ratings etc?
If I was to hire a Drupal dev for this, how much should I expect to pay? (All design/html will be provided by myself). The pages will be used with vbdrupal.org to work with user accounts on an existing vb forum.
Any help appreciated!

Hello, don't worry, it takes a while sometimes for people to give an answer.
You are correct, you can achieve this with cck, it will not give you the same presentation at first glance, but you can play with the node template and shape it a bit. I have never modified a node.tpl my self, I have done it with profile.tpl and it was really easy, so I guess that it should be similar.
For the friends, there is a module node reference, not sure if it comes in the default cck installation.
For ratings or leave a bone, there is a whole set of modules for this under Evaluation/rating. The base module I think is voting api, any other runs on top of this.
Not sure about how much you can expect to pay, but look in http://getafreelancer.com and you might be able to find something similar and get an approximate.
Hope it helps.

Thanks
Thanks Feloescoto!
My main concern is that whether it can be done or not without too much trouble. I will look into those modules. Thanks again!
You are welcome. I would say
You are welcome.
I would say that it requires medium trouble, but it can be done.
Keep us posted in progress.

Hey there Brook,
I am actually helping develop something similar to what you are talking about using Drupal. You can check it out at the link below. It is still a work in progress, but we are getting there.
For pet profiles we used CCK
For ratings we used jrating
The whole leave a dog a bone or present thing, we haven't really tried to incorporate that into our feature set, so I'm not sure how to handle that with a current module, but it is do-able with some custom module creation.
As far as costs for development and other questions, you can contact the founder of My Pet Street @ connie@mypetstreet.com . I'm sure she would be happy to answer some of your questions. We are always looking for motivated pet lovers to help brainstorm and contribute, so there may even be an opportunity for you to join the team. Drop us an email when you get a chance.

I'm also interested in doing this. We're going to be moving to drupal in order to incorporate pet profiles. We are only planning on using a ratings system, not even 'friend' connections or anything like that but who knows. We're more interested in a way to let people upload and keep track of their pet's photos. I think the pet profile can do that.
