Site slows down to a crawl if I use invite

Project:Buddylist2
Version:5.x-1.0-beta1
Component:Buddy API Invite
Category:support request
Priority:normal
Assigned:Unassigned
Status:active

Issue Summary

I have an issue with using the invite module (which is required by buddylist2 in order to invite user).
Every time I install invite, the site crawls, gives me a 3-5 second delay on every single page.
Now the question is, will leaving out the invite module render buddylist2 useless?
Can I even install it without the invite module or does it make no sense?

the project page does not list the invite module as a dependency. BL2 does integrate with the invite module if you are trying to use the buddy api invite module at which point the invite module is a necessary component. If you aren't using the buddy_invite integration, invite.module is not necessary.

Thanks for the quick response.
So I wont lost functionality without that invite module, except I can not invite user via email?

#3

you are right.

invite module is only needed by buddy_api_invite. (if userA invites userB to join the site -> userA and userB are getting buddies when userB joins the site. but only if buddy_api_invite ist enabled)

for the main buddylist functionallity you dont need invite.

Thanks. I installed it without the invite module and all is working fine, pages load without delay.

I would like to use the invite functionality too.
(but I am not anxious to slow down my site)

Is there a way/workaround to resolve this slowdown issue without disabling the invite functionality?

thanx

I don´t have this problem, have you tried to enable invite?

#9

I haven't, my site is already unbearably slow and I have been deprioritizing anything that might make it worse until I deal with the existing speed issues.

I would be happy to report back when I do.
