Hi JM.

Yes it is possible. Depending on the template you are using, you need to write some CSS and edit the template file. I ended up moving the content_top block to the header and then placing banner in that block.

If you need any more help let me know, as I couldn't find anything on here and when I asked the question got no responses. I can share some code with you if you want.

Also let me know how can I insert an image into a page(image means a cms controlled image)
ie an authorized user should be able to change the image whenever he wishes.
ie after removign the earlier image, he should be able to place a new image.

1) Quick and dirty.

Examine your page.tpl.php file and see how it lays out the page.

In the right place, insert html calling your banner image, and linking it to wherever.

Doing this is actually a good exercise, as it helps teach you about the page.tpl but shouldn't be used live.

2) Properly

You need to read the various Region pages in the handbook, and how to apply Blocks to them. Play and practice.

Then create a Block for your banner

The system will do the rest.

This has the advantage that of course it's easy to move the block to new places, or get cute with php or view blocks that call banners according to criteria, making them more context sensitive.

Hi Sir,
I am using Drupal version 5.7
It seems that it doesn't support Banner Module.
So what I have to do to attain this functionality?
just suggest some simpler methods
Thanks and Regards,

I'm using 'Ad', seems to work ok and supports many different kinds of ads/banners.

Have you got it worked out yet?

Hello to all,
In my humble opinion the best way to place context sensitive advertisement banners in a Drupal based website is to use the Open Source Banner Ads Programme called OpenAds (Now OpenX). It is Php based and can display ads on any website. It is also Free.

Just download OpenX programme from http://www.openx.org and install it on your server. Thereafter, configure it and place the java script code code in the appropriate section (Header,Footer,Side Bar etc) of your Drupal website by creating blocks in the admin panel of Drupal.
It is state of the art independent programme and has features similar to that of Google Adsense/Adwords. With OpenX you can manage multiple customers and multiple Ad campaigns in one or more websites simultaneously.

Just spare a days time understanding OpenX and I am sure you will enjoy using it ever after.
.

I am using OpenX for my drupal based website and am more than satisfied.

Hope this helps
