Not sure if this is an ImageCache issue or an ImageCache profiles issue, but when a user picture is uploaded that is smaller than the dimensions that are set (for the profile page, for example), the picture has a black background added to fit the set dimensions instead of just displaying the original picture/size. This happens when the Built-in GD2 toolkit is used only. When ImageMagick is used, the uploaded image maintains its original size.

Same thing happening with me. My large image size is 200x200. And it adds black background to all the large profile images, which are not exactly square. All my settings are exactly what is mentioned in readme.txt file.

Set the minimum height and width settings to your largest imagecache preset. Will update the readme.txt file.
