I've just started to build a site about a month ago and decided to download version 6, RC2. My main concern is about module and theme availability, since most themes and modules are 5.x or lower compliant. About how long does it typically take from a release to get popular modules updated for the new version? Should I just switch to the latest production release of 5.x, or should I use the latest 5.x modules in my site and just start patching problems as I encounter them?
I'm an experienced programmer, but not very familiar with PHP or Drupal so I'm a little concerned about committing to upgrading modules.
