Issue Summary

I've just had our SSL certificate installed, and I'd like to use Secure Pages, but the bold writing on the module page ends with "Drupal installation has been configured to support SSL access" - can you tell me what that means? My site is accessible now through both https and http, but are there other settings I need to chance before installing secure pages?

I am a newby, and I hope I am answering you correctly here, but wit Drupal 6.x you need to go to the secure pages settings page, which you will find at: administer > site configuration > secure pages
(or https:// YOUR_DRUPAL_SITE.COM /admin/settings/securepages).
There you can set which pages should switch to SSL and which should not as well as assorted other settings. I don't know if it is different for the earlier versions (i.e., 5.x.)

Hope that helps.

I can't find the "securepages". Maybe I have to enable something first?

I think if the site is accessible using http and https then the secure pages module is the only further thing you need to set up - the link Greenlantern mentions above is settings for the secure pages module afaik. To K4m1K4tz3 - you need to install the secure pages module before you can access that page.

The reason that warning is there is because sometimes (eg if you're using a shared certificate) you have to do some funky htaccess or settings.php work to get drupal to use the certificate at all. You need to do that before enabling and using the secure pages module.

you have to do some funky htaccess or settings.php work

The funcky stuff seems to be what i need. But what is it that should be done ?

I have my certificate, https works fine. But i enable securepages ( with switch back (etc...) checked. I try to go to my home page and i get a "too many redirects" error.

Frustrated....

I agree that it would be nice to see some additional documentation on this front.

On the module project page (http://drupal.org/project/securepages) in bold type is the warning, "Make sure that your web server has SSL enabled and you Drupal installation has been configured to support SSL access".

It would be nice to have a little direction, even a hyperlink, that explains what exactly what's being referred to when they say, "Drupal installation has been configured to support SSL access".

I can't find any settings in Drupal that are SSL specific.

If you want to write up some documentation on secure pages I would be very happy to add it to the download.

I have to agree with kmillecam, sounds like a useful module and thanks to the author(s), but without even a few lines to get me started it is proving a real pain so far.

I don't think this needs to be detailed, just a few bullet points would be fine, ie: 1) install crt key on server 2) go to drupal and do x,y,z here and there 3) go to secure pages module and enable. That's probably all it needs, but when you are left to guess what X, Y, and Z are for yourself..........

Please don't get me wrong this sounds like a really useful mod, and the fact that somebody has written it in their own time is both recognized and really appreciated. If I could write some simple instructions myself I would, but as you can see I haven't even got it working, so if anybody who has used this has 2 mins to just jot down a few bullet points for others it would be great.

Anyway time to go googling on "configuring drupal to work with ssl", as simply enabling it on the server doesn't seem to be sufficient and I suspect I have a long morning ahead.

Just my 2 cents.
