Hi.

Does Drupal have a module that allows feed items to be published as story nodes? And puts feed items on an approval queue till one with appropriate rights publishes the item?

Kind of like the Feed Gator module for Joomla - http://phlooid.com/component/option,com_xtdcontent/task,view/id,912/Item...

I may not have been looking in the right places.

Any advice or information is much appreciated.

You could look into these modules. I'm not sure about the approval queue though.

I failed to get FeedAPI to respect my language settings (i18n) so I stopped using it. But on a single language site it worked fine.
