This has had me stumped for a long time. Trying to have a node that gets titled using form values that has not yet been saved. Connecting a string of three fields, two of them from a taxonomy drop down menu. We're trying to use automatic node titles.

We've found it very challenging to grab bits and pieces from the array before it's saved using the php field below the node. We're open to other strategies, such as having it land on a page with a script, have the node renamed, and then resaved. We'd be willing to send it to Mars if that would work.

Any leads or ideas would be gratefully accepted. If you feel confident that you could do this quickly, get in touch and we'll hire you. Meanwhile, we're happy accepting advice and will beat on it until it's completed.

Are these taxonomy drop downs CCK fields, or the standard taxonomy interface?

Try dropping this into your "pattern for title" field on the content type. Then check "execute php in pattern"

  global $form_values;
  $node = (array)$form_values;
  drupal_set_message("<pre>".print_r($node, true)."</pre>");
