I'm not sure if I'm just missing something here.
I'm using the 'save as both' option because it gives me the functionality I need of being both being saved as a cck field for other issues as well as the taxonomy for grouping.

I have 3 different CCK fields on a content type that are being saved. The issue is if I have them setup, and want to empty the field, the taxonomy association stays. I am simply unable to remove the taxonomy term linking to that node.

My quick and dirty 'in the meantime' work around was to create a taxonomy field that's just a '-' or something. Change the entries I want disassociated and then rename that taxonomy to ' '. That leaves the node blank, but it's nowhere near solving the problem.

Cleanup of old issues. According to maintainer: "active development is only done for the 6.x branch! 5.x is not supported any more".
Open a new issue if problem still exist.
