Has anyone had this problem with a theme: no side bars?

Hi,

I really like the AEON5 theme but when I install it on my Drupal 5 site I don't have a left or a right side bar, thus I had no user logon or navigation block (as these are by default on the left side bar). When I change these blocks to "content" and "footer" they do become visible but this doesn't look nice. See at http://jktienen.org/drupal

Has anyone had a similar problem with a theme before and if so any idea how to solve this?
