Is there a release for Drupal 6 in the pipeline?

mercmobily commentedHi,
The plan is to go through all of the feature requests first, and _then_ do a major port to Drupal 6.
Otherwise, developng a new feature will become a nightmare with people begging (rightly so!) to backport XYZ...
This means that the port might be 3 months away. However, I don't think we should be in a bit hurry to upgrade... are we?

iohannis commentedI would very much welcome a release of Drigg for Drupal 6 as soon as possible. I am new to Drupal, and downloaded version 6 because of the ease of use and the large community - but I am missing support for a lot of modules in version 6. The Drigg module would be a core function to a new site we want to base on Drupal 6, so I'm wondering if there's anything we can do to speed up the release for 6?
(Perhaps I can contribute? I don't know Drupal, but I know PHP...)

mercmobily commentedHi,
Unless you were able to do the port pretty much on your own, and therefore were an experienced Drupal programmer, I am afraid there isn't much you can do.
Even if somebody offered *today* to port the whole module to Drupal 6 (and he would need to do it pretty much without my help, because otherwise he would slow me down with the feature development), that programmer would then commit to back-port all of the features I add to Drupal 6 to D5 (or vice-versa).
Or there could be a substantial bounty ($5000?) to complete all of the missing features AND port the module to D6. Please note that even $5000 would be peanuts considering the number of hours involved here.
I don't mean to be stingy, but I already devout countless hours every week to Drupal. But, I also need to eat.

Jeff Burnz commentedThanks Merc, much appreciate the reply - good to hear you're working on those feature requests first, I think that sounds like a sensible course of action.

iohannis commentedThanks for the reply, Merc. I appreciate the time your spending on this, and look forward to seeing the 6.0 version in the future.

silvanov commentedThanks Merc for letting us know your game plan. I asked earlier, about the d6 port, but was just curious. I, like most others, I would assume, would much rather see more features added, before worrying about porting to d6. Im sure it'd be a pain for you as well as site owners to make the transition smoothly, and theres nothing extremely wrong with the current version of drupal/drigg now :D

mercmobily commentedHi,
OK :-D
I am going to mark this as duplicate, just because there is another D6 request open and it's not as if I didn't know that this is something that needs doing :-D
Bye!
