Outline volumes link to preexisting nodes

I have just created my first volumes (couldn't figure out how to at first) but when I click on a volume I have created, the first brings me to node/1 and the second brings me to node/2 which are clearly pre-existing nodes, and not where we are supposed to be going. I'm not sure why... I added the quotations to the outline.info file. Is that all I was supposed to do? I can't figure out how to get this working and I think this module would be really useful for my site, as neither book or forum will allow custom content types.
