There are a few other modules required and a few other suggested modules but when following the links you find a few of them are alpha code and the rest do not have a suggested version. could you please list the versions of dependant or suggested modules that are known to work with ubercart along side or near the download links.

This has been remedied, The project page now reflects the stable releases supported by Ubercart for module dependencies (and their corresponding download link). Expect to see updates on ubercart.org soon.
