tried installing on D6 and it doesn't show in the themes menu. Don't D6 themes need a .info file in the directory?

I had a problem in D6 with any theme I tried to install.. its not just aeon, don't know what the issue is but I don't have time to deal with it for now so I just went back to D5, I'm not sure if they changed the method for installing new themes or if its some bug.

Yep, there should definitely be an .info file. During the initial D6.x branch I've committed the 5.x dev version, instead of the working 6.x version. This will be fixed in the next 12 hourly snapshot.
