Has anyone ever put together a package of preconfigured modules with a drupal install?
I've seen this done with wordpress where someone has created an install w/ the most popular plugins and themes. So one download provides everything necessary.

I'm new to drupal and would like to play around with an instance that has some of the most common/popular modules actually working and setup properly. Yes, I am reading the handbooks.

Note that currently the install profiles list the modules you need and you need to download them separately and then the profile takes care of the initial setup. There is work going on right now to get the Install profiles to actually bundle and zip up the needed modules as well but the folks working on that have higher priorities right now.
