I'm also interested to learn this.

I have a 4.7 site built using aggregator2, which has over 300 feeds set up (it's a news aggregation site). I want/need to upgrade to Drupal 5 or ideally 6, but given the significant work involved in moving all my feeds across to the Aggregation module i need to know that it will continue to be supported into version 6 - and hopefully beyond (unless of course version 6 includes new aggregation features I'm not yet aware of that make the Aggregation module obsolete?)

Graham

The module will still be maintained and upgraded to drupal 6, but I can't really force myself to any time lines.

I'm hoping to do that by the end of next month, but as I said, I'm extremely busy these days and cannot be certain of when an upgrade will be complete.

Me too Me too.

This is exactly what my site needs and you will be doing a favor that may be returned. I'm working on a open courseware aggregation / learning object repository site for a research university. We will be applying for a grant on this project and the person that asked for the project has a track record of grants. I'm not promising anything, but the modules that get into our site will end up being paid for some way, so that we can ensure that there is support for all the modules that we have. I honestly don't know what this will mean in the long run but this might be good to know, since your planning on updating it anyway.

One request that I have is that there should be a way to link to podcasts / RSS feeds. We are developing another tool to support the large scale i.e. thousands of users ability to record and publish audio and video to RSS using the F10 key to start and stop recording. This thing is so easy that anybody can use it, it is easier than email. This is a commercial product we are developing with a vendor. There might be a really easy way to adapt this to work with their product and you would have an instant hit of a module. If you want to talk about this I can work with you and the vendor to see if something can be worked out. I think this would be AWESOME and is not some BS thing that isn't going to happen. This is a multimillion dollar company and a large research university. They have the recording publishing tech and drupal and your module has the tagging & display part. This would be great. This is so good I might make a module myself, but I'm really not that good at it.

Contact me to get more information if your interested.

Oh, and by the way kaw3939, the aggregation module will automatically auto-import all aggregator2 feeds and items, check the readme file. As always, don't forget to backup before installing the aggregation module if you're upgrading from aggregator2. Forget to backup and you're on your own if things turn bitter!!!

Thanks for the info.

I talked to the vendor about this and I think they are going to do something like this... They don't want to maintain an RSS feed for every course, since they want another product to do the management. They are focused on the recording, encoding, publishing aspect, which I understand. However, they did say that they would be able to dump an xml file out with each publish that contained the meta data for the file. I thought this might actually be better, since a program could be written to parse the individual xml files and turn them into a proper rss feed.

What do you think?

Sorry, I think I meant my last message for upperholme

Thanks for the reminder, and the good news that the module will be developed for D6. I'll certainly take it slowly and carefully. with over 300 feeds and around 30,000 feed items on my site at present, I really don't want to mess up.

Any update on progress?

I would say I'm 60% through the upgrade. The patches that were submitted were ok but definitely contained many slips and were only partial upgrades.

The process is quite tedious and the documentation I would say is nothing less than a book :P

Again, I'm hoping to get this out by the end of this weekend, I know I'm a little slow but I'm totally overloaded and trying to get this right from the first shot.

I'd rather slow than not at all.

Thanks for the progress.

I know you're overloaded, but was wondering if you have made any progress. I am over 30 drupal site I maintain now, and am a bit anxious to get to 6.x.

The aggregation for drupal 6 has been published quite some time ago.
