Description

Where is the documentation? The README file indicates:

DOCUMENTATION
---------------

Visit admin/help/textimage in your Drupal site for information on configuring and using textimage.

... but it's not there.

do you have the help.module enabled ?

#2

fm - February 16, 2008 - 20:35

Nope, didn't even know there was one. Thanks for your assistance.

... there it is! Yea!

Sorry, apparently I am an idiot.

Was the help.module enabled by default in my original Drupal install?

Hmm, I was hoping the help documentation would explain how Textimage is configured to automate custom headers. I understand the preset mechanism, but the instructions stop there. Am I supposed to embed code in the template to call textimage, similar to the way signwriter handles it; or is there some setting in another corner of the Drupal install that I'm supposed to configure? Or something else entirely?

In short, how do I get these presets in Textimage to replace the headline on a node?

#5

VM - February 16, 2008 - 23:38

strike that, I've never used it for headers.

#6

fm - February 16, 2008 - 23:44

I think I can see why you haven't ... there are no instructions. :(

The description claims the module does it, but I can find no information about how to configure it to do that.

I wouldn't have used this for headers because it does not allow for text wrapping I prefer sIFR for things of that nature so that users don't break layouts of sites with long titles.

At your suggestion, I am looking into sIFR. Unfortunately, it seems to require swf-fonts instead of truetype, and conversion of my TTF fonts to swf-fonts doesn't look like it will be easy.

gah!

+1 for some elaboration as to how one calls upon the resources of this module. I note that quicksketch . org seems to be utilizing it to elegant effect, and this gives me hope. It'd be lovely to see some descriptions/examples of how one might use textimage to render the output of specific modules. I note also that the module seems to fail on quicksketch . org in situations where the text includes special characters. Sentences containing a quote or ampersand are not rendered as images, and in the place of those images the text is shown with the code for those characters rather than the characters themselves.

There are claims afoot that it DOES support wrapping. Anyone have this working?

I'm stumped currently, but would gladly contribute to or co-edit some handbook bits supporting use of textimage once/if I can learn it myself. Links or suggestions from better-informed drupallers appreciated.

cheers!

If this is true the help text doesn't state this. In fact the help text is where I read that this doesn't support text wrapping.

TextImage's developer, Wundo, has claimed on his own site that the module wraps text.

http://wundo.net/drupal/textimage

That said, all the images on his site are broken [do not appear] for me.

that said, the help text is obviously very overdue for an overhaul.

It's the module of infinite promise!
http://drupal.org/node/185509 looks particularly promising, but I'm unclear about which version it is meant to work with. I'd be thrilled to hear from anyone who's made this or something like it fly with 5.7 in the 'dynamic image replacement' mode. Thanks in advance...

Some changes have been made to the documentation, but realistically it still needs a lot of work.

Contributions would be greatly appreciated.
