The overlay setting produces a complete black screen in IE7 when compared to the normal somewhat transparent overlay in firefox/safari.

here are some photos of what I'm talking about:

Firefox lightbox

IE7 lightbox

If tips to fix this are much appreciated

Wes, I'm not taking bugs that aren't filed against 1.0, however with that in mind, this should affect ALL versions of the module. Why don't you try downloading and enabling the lightbox2 module and see if you have the same problem. If so, repost here, and I'll dig into it. Should just be a css issue I would imagine. Also, please upgrade to 1.0.

Thanks for the response back.

Going through some trial and error I found out that IE does this whenever there is a comment on the page with an avatar.

I'm currently working on creating some user portfolio stuff, while incorporating this module to create a gallery within the user profile page, which has been easy and awesome. I'll post back if I find a solution to my problem with the black overlay and avatar pics in comments.

have you done any of your own custom theming for this? or is it all default drupal stuff?

I'm using the advance profile module to create my profiles, which are pretty much based off the demo site of the module ( http://socnet.shellmultimedia.com ), and just creating a imagefield in my nodeprofile.

I just checked socnet with IE7 and it's working fine there.

Since it's working fine on Michelle's implementation, I'm going to go ahead and mark this closed
