WinCVS is another graphical CVS client available for Windows (WinCVS), Mac (MacCVS) and Linux (gCVS). You can download the latest versions from http://www.wincvs.org/. The checkout / update process is similar to the one described above.

Setting up a local CVS repository

For those of you wanting to setup your own local CVS repository to track a project, I have created a guide to setting up and using CVSNT and WinCVS to do just that. This is aimed at the CVS beginner - like me - so its pretty simple. It will be updated as I discover new things in using that setup. Once you have a basic understanding of how the system works, then the rest of the stuff here starts to make more sense too. At least, that's how it is for me.
