Bonjour,
I have a problem with Drupal 6 and FCKeditor (both last version) . At first everything went well, then (maybe till I have activated the search module) the Body area disappears (even now that I have uninstalled the search module).
If I put FCK off and on it works again, once ...
Here is a screen copy of what I get :

Any suggestion is welcomed (another wysiwyg editor, a workaround ...)
Merci. Thank you
Stéphane

nephaste commentedTo my consternation, the problem seems to happen only in Firefox and Opera not in IE.
faunapolis commentedI have the similar problem. When the FCK editor is on, you can only edit one of the two split text boxes (one dissapears). And the split button dissapears (this second one maybe has to do with the theme I'm using being fixed width). Excellent contribution, thank you very much.
allartk commentedI think this is a bug. Happens also with default themes.
nephaste commentedI've uninstalled all the extensions, reinstalled Firefox from scratch with only the main extensions (Scrapbook, ScribeFire, Furl Tools, MyspellDictionnary, FEBE) and the problem seems to have disappeared.
However, there still is a bug with Firefox. If I do a right click in the edit textebox the context menu of Firefox prevents me form using the context menu of FckEditor which disappears instantly
I still have to use IE ....

wwalc commentedEdit the fckeditor.config.js and add this:
(is it possible that somewhere in the configuration files you have set this to true?)
purge your browser's cache, restart the browser if necessary, should help.
If it doesn't help, go to http://www.fckeditor.net/demo and let me know if you encounter the same behaviour.
nephaste commentedThanks for the Help. I did as you asked but it didn't help. I went to the demo page and though there were some problems, it worked better.
Then I created a new user on my PC, and then : no problem anymore!
So I tried to find what was the problem. I can't exactly tell but I looked in about :config and I saw a lot of lines concerning plugins that I used long time ago.
I'm not sure but I've been using firefox for a very long time and something in the preferences seems to have been corrupted. So I deleted all the files (in Application Data and Local settings) reinstalled by hand (not using mozbackup as I first did) and now it works.
Thank you again for the help and sorry to have kept you busy with a problem that had more to do with my config than with FckEditor. If I can find what the problem was I will tell you.
Merci.

giorgoskIt happened to me too
a firefox browser full of plugins would not let FCKeditor to appear
All other browsers were OK
Sometimes even firefox would actually let the FCKeditor to display
it is weird

samtaylor commentedNot to break up the continuity here, but I've had the opposite happen with me on occasion.
The computers at my college use IE 7, and I'm a FF user on my personal computer. I have been able to use fckeditor just fine on Firefox and K-Meleon (based on the same engine) but IE 7 support has been sporadic at best. Sometimes the editor loads, sometimes the area just remains blank, even after being patient and/or several refreshes.
Unfortunately I have not yet been able to differentiate the circumstances that cause IE7 to load fckeditor from those that cause it not to.
I second GiorgosK's comment, this is *weird*.

seath_49 commentedHi,
I have a similar problem, the Editor is not showing up in Opera only, several computers.
I don't see it even on the official demo page of fckeditor. Do you think there might
be a chance they are lying about supporting opera?
Thanks,
Seath
Comment #10
wwalc commentedPlease do not post the same issue twice.
The question about Opera support has been answered in #235259.
I'm closing this bug because nephaste was able to solve it by himself.
Generally, problem described here is quite delicate and there is no definite answer for such problems.
FCKeditor is loaded after the whole page has been loaded.
It means that if you have installed a buggy Drupal module, or a broken plugin in your browser, FCKeditor may not load due to previous javascript errors.
Anyway, to debug such problems, first thing you should do is to check:
http://www.fckeditor.net/demo
If you don't see FCKeditor there and your browser is supported, it means that your browser is broken, try uninstalling additional plugins, reinstalling the browser and so on.
If you are able to see FCKeditor on demo page, it means that probably there is a conflict with other Drupal modules.
In such case, use Firebug to check for potential javascript errors. It may point you to the right solution.
In any case, feel free to submit a support request or a bug report to help you solve the problem if you can't deal with it.

clemente commentedGuy... is this the rosy future of open source informatics? Dealing with same problem again and again :-( So disappointed...
wwalc commentedI usually never do that, but I have to reply somehow to last comment.
@clemente: I checked your last posts and you're always saying that you're "frustrated", "mad" or something like "Oh please. This really sucks. I can't rely on Drupal.".
Please instead of complaining do something positive. If something doesn't work as expected, provide a patch or create a new module and make Open Source world better.

lameei commentedThe FCKEditor was working for me in FF3 till now but it stopped working suddenly. it works in ie7 and i can see the demo version. here is the errors i see in error console on FF.(by not working i mean the editor does not appear in FF the same as pic sent by issue opener)

Jorrit commentedPlease check the files you're uploaded, there seems to be missing some thing. Please don't kick up very old issues.
TerrenceLP commentedHeads up my problem was fixed by getting rid of moo.fx js files call outs and also had the problem with png.js as well.
It is a JS loading issue

jeff.turner commentedI am using Drupal 6 and fckeditor 6 (module) and fckeditor_2.6.5. I installed the fckeditor without any problems and it worked fine in all browsers (FF, chrome, and IE). Since the fckeditor toolbar was showing up in all text areas (including contact us forms), it tried to change the profile by excluding some paths. It didn't work. I then made changes in the profile (default and advanced) for editor appearance default state as disabled.
After that I not able to see the editor at all in mysite. I undid all the changes I made in the profile. It didn't work. I disabled and enabled the fckeditor module - it didn't work. i disabled and deleted the whole folder and uploaded the fresh files and installed it. I also tried to change the themes. But it somehow doesn't want to show the fckeditor toolbar (also I don't get any errors). It dosen't come in any browsers. Also when I check up the firebug I only see css of fckeditor but no related js.
Please help me as I seem to have tried the options that are there in this site.
