I'm in the process of migrating my site to a new server. I run both the old and the new server - they're Linodes. The migration seems to be going very well... but I'm getting hit by Character Set problems: on the new server, certain characters show up funny. Double spaces come up as Â, and all my accented characters are funny.
Both servers have apache2, with default charset UTF-8 in apache2.conf
Both servers have MySQL default charset utf-8 . Viewing the raw SQL data on both servers (via Putty) seems to use the same messed up charset.
Both servers have php default charset utf-8
Both servers have the terminal default charset utf-8
The server headers deliver charset=utf-8 on both servers
So why do the two sites display differently?? The only difference I can think of that's left is the distro - the old server used Fedora Core 2, the new one uses Ubuntu 7.1.
You can have a look for yourself.
