Your demo looks pretty much the same as node_feed looks - that is that the user has left my site and has no way to get back. Is it possible to make the feed page look like any other page on my site, with header, sidebars, menu, etc.?

This is by design what the FeedBurner feed redirection does. It may be possible somewhere in the FeedBurner settings to make the FeedBurner feed look a little more like the site, and you can also use the MyBrand service to give the feed's url something similar to your site (aka feeds.example.org/feedname instead of feeds.feedburner.com/feedname). But in the end the feed that the end-user views is from FeedBurner.
