I just started using this module and it is great. I can see a lot of uses for it.

The Issue Description is a required field, but I would like to make it optional for certain cases. Is there currently any way to do that? If not, could this feature be added?

http://api.drupal.org/api/function/hook_form_alter/5 is how you can do it yourself.

We're not adding any new features to the 5.x-1.* series.

I'd like to see us move towards fewer required fields to reduce the click-cost of creating a new issue, so yeah, let's leave this feature request open for the 5.x-2.* series.
