I've had a 6.x version of this in CVS since September. It still needs to be revisited and then a proper release created.

I won't be cutting tags for any of my modules (except coder) until I start to upgrading sites to 6.x. And I won't be upgrading sites until CCK, Views, Node Queue, and Panels are released.

Since taxonomy_role is functionally very close to this if not identical, might be worth looking at a merge rather than a Drupal 6 version.

As stated in #220305: Plan for Drupal 6, features are not identical. The D6 version has been done with a few minor modifications.
