The current WYSIWYG comparison handbook page needs to be improved. Create a replacement comparison chart for the various WYSIWYG editors available for Drupal 5.x and 6.
There are only a few available for Drupal 6 so far, but the usual suspects from Drupal 5.x will no doubt be ported so the gathered data will still be useful.
The task will require installing and testing each module individually.
Suggested table row headers for the chart:
- Module name
- Drupal version
- 5.x
- 6.x
- Image support
- Spell-checking
- Browser support
- IE
- Firefox
- Safari
- Opera
- Type (JavaScript, Browser plug-in, etc.)
- Level of HTML support
- Table support
- Support for nested lists
- The editor can be enabled per
- Input field
- Role
- User
- Coder.module test
Add/adjust as needed to get a good overview of the strengths and weaknesses of the different editors.
The task will be complete upon adding the new documentation to the handbook page.

Walt Esquivel CreditAttribution: Walt Esquivel commentedEXCELLENT!
1. I'd like "Dependencies" as an additional table row header for the chart.
2. Here's an additional example of a comparison table for inspiration, and I REALLY REALLY like the "Benefits/Drawbacks" table included under each editor's paragraph. The results are a bit dated (published February 27th, 2006), but the tables are good for ideas nonetheless.

Thanks!

MGParisi CreditAttribution: MGParisi commentedTalk to "Drupal-id.com" he/she seems to be maintaining the page.
If he is not willing to maintain it, or is not accurate in the details then we must ask ourselves, who is going to spend the time to keep up on the latest versions of all the editors, install the latest versions, then text them?
Every few weeks one of these editors is going to come up with an update...
Its a great idea, but I recommend going to drupalmodules.com and reading the reviews and updates there! Also checking out some other sites for knowledge, that specialize in these editors. Choosing the right editor is very important, and before I choose mine, I installed all of the others. It was a monumental task, but time definitely well spent.
Actually I think a user who is choosing a WYSIWYG would get more out of external references and an on going topic.

LeeHunter CreditAttribution: LeeHunter commentedI've archived this page. It's one of those pages that sound good in theory but turn out to be a maintenance nightmare since it contains a huge amount of information which is impossible to keep up to date.
