hi, got this running on d6 and it works just as described...my only request, because i can't write code: any way you could add the code for some of the top sites out there, like yahoo videos, msn, myspace, vimeo, revver, dailymotion,...there are many, but there's typically a 'top 10' that will capture like 90 percent of what users may wish to post...

Attached is a patch that may make vimeo work. I don't have this module installed, but it looks pretty straight forward. You don't really have to be a coder to add this stuff. (I'm not.) Zilla, I bet you could add several of those in 1/2 an hour even without mad skillz.
