(sent this via email too, but realize others may wind up asking the same thing)
this module is excellent! exaclty what i was looking for to let users add photos and other crap to a profile page without implementing gallery and all of that (using image filter)
but one HUGE question: i'm using drupal 6, wondering if there's a way for the profile page to inherit and/or display (and allow) for simultaneous use of custom profile fields
so a local signs up, then when logging in now only sees this custom page - so i can't add a field like 'favorite sport' and so on (and in turn make those fields public searchable profile pages and so on...) - in turn this makes it hard to group navigable users (by 'sport') and in turn click on through for the 'detailed enhanced profile' that this module allows!
..or am i missing something? can these all be used together? or is it just one or the other only...

zilla commentedsorry, let me clarify: i realize that this will be quite possible with CCK - but i'm talking about using the existing profile module built into drupal 6 core, which already allows for simple public/private permissions on a per field basis, allowing for the simple construction of navigable user pages...

zilla commented..any thoughts on this? feedback? just seems like the ability to use this as well as builtin profile fields would be awesome - that way one can create simple dropdown categories during signup, easily generate searchable/navigable pages of such users and in turn let users use this module to build out much more interesting profile pages...

Fayna commentedI'm not sure I understand. Are you asking if you can use both the Drupal core profile module and Content Profile? You can easily set up custom profile fields with just the core profile module.
Go to administrator >> user management >> profiles. then you can add any type of custom field you like.
Is that what you're talking about? I'm pretty sure the Content Profile module will allow you to display custom CCK fields, not sure about fields from the core profile module.

zilla commentedyes - sorry - i'm a nitwit. on my dev site, for some reason the profile fields i created for test profiles were reset to 'unchecked' when i installed content profile and so when i went into the profiles and reclicked the boxes (or filled fields) they they then appeared correctly!
not sure if this is a strange bug - not sure how to check it out - e.g. turnign a content type into a content profile resets profile fields to 'unchecked'? i think that's unlikely though..but if it comes up again that could be a simple thing to resolve.
btw- thanks for such a wonderful module! it is simple to use and setup, briliant with cck and image types, love it on my site...

shaman365 commentedHey zilla,
Im a newbie.
Getting my first taste of Drupal and starting with D6. I'm going about setting up a music community site and I'm at the point where I need to begin setting up profile pages. I've gotten pretty far with the core profile node and realized I needed more and found this great contrib. I've downloaded it, installed, enabled it... but need a little guidance on how to go about using it. I'd like the user profiles to include mp3 playlists, and a gallery. I just don't know where to start. Is there any more information out there on how to go about using this content profile mod? Or maybe some examples? I noticed that you're having some success with it.
Thanks in advance!

zilla commentedsure - but you may want to post in the forum and then i can reply there (and others can chime in)
i'm marking this particular issue "fixed" because it is :)
when you repost the question in forum, just ping me via contact with the link and i'll drop in and write up some ideas/notes and explain how i'm using it right now...
in the interim, for d6, definitely check out friend module - adds friends, a minifeed (facebook style) and a corkboard to user profiles so that only friends can comment on each other's profiles and not use default 'comment module' which you'll probably want to disable for this content type (you dont' anybody commenting randomly, right, just friends? it's your call)
