Issue Summary
I have a client that wants to do a search for keywords and then have a mechanism for narrowing down the results by either term or type. Will this module help?

No, It won't hook into the search results. However, that could be an interesting addon and should not be too hard to develop into this module.
Lets make this a feature request.
