Trouble promoting to front page
rgsmith - February 24, 2008 - 06:12
I'm new to Drupal and need some help with my first site. When I promote what I intend to be the Front Page, blocks are placed inside the main text body of the page which causes other content to reformat oddly. Can anyone tell me how to fix this?
Thanks

Some more specific
Some more specific information would help. I would suggest trying this with a default theme like Garland or Blue Marine. Also, what kind of content are you promoting to the front page and how are you doing it?
I don't know the page, but I seem to recall there is a handbook page on the Drupal "front" page. It isn't complicated, but it doesn't necessarily work like you might expect it would.
Trouble promoting to front page
I've been working with Garland, Minelli, and iTheme. You can see the site as it sits right now at http://www.rgsmithmusic.com/drupal . I'm not sure if you can get to the page intended to be the front page without the admin login but it's name is "Home". There's a Photo and some introductory text. When I promote it to the front page, the blocks on the sides migrate to the main body of the page and interfere compete with the content there.
I have set it so the problem shows right now. The blocks "test block", "Music for Sale" and "rgsmith" are supposed to be on the sides and cause the photo to shift about half way down the page. Following one of the links at the top will show what the page is supposed to look like.
An additional problem is that the music note in the logo appears in front of the main banner in Firefox but behind it in IE. If I can't get that fixed, I have to either redo the logo or not use Garland.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks

Update
I now find that there is a place that says "read more" after the first bit of text on the page. If I click on "read more", the page re-formats to look as I expect it too.

Problem solved
Removing the "read more" line solved the problem.
