If you have subcategories in your taxonomy and put your FAQs in the leaves of this taxonomy tree, it is not possible to select categories, which do not have FAQs, but subcategories, if the display option "Clicking on category opens the questions/answers in a new page" is selected.
The count of the FAQs in the subcategories is not listed in this case.

Have you tried enabling the "Show sub-categories on FAQ category pages" option?

Okay, that works. I havn't noticed that, because I had activated "Only show sub-categories when parent category is selected". In this case, I can not select the superior category, if it doesn't contain faqs, but only subcategories.

Update: it is enugh to disable "Only show sub-categories when parent category is selected". Then, the subcategories are displayed correctly. I can only geht to the superior category's page, by selecting a subcategory and go back with breadcrumbs. The superior category is still not selectable.

No it works as expected with the "Only show sub-categories when parent category is selected" is enabled. None of the sub-categories are displayed on the top level page, but the empty category should and it should have the sum of all its subcategory counts beside it. When you click on the empty category, you should see a list of all its subcategories.

When you have just the "Show sub-categories on FAQ category pages" enabled, then the sub-categories will appear on the top level faq page and will be clickable. The empty categories will not be clickable.

I've tested on my site and it works perfectly.

Cheers,
Stella

Did you change something in the code and your last post should start with "now" instead of "no"? In this case: thanks a lot.

No, I haven't changed anything in the code related to this and my last post actually should start with "No". I'm using the latest dev version.
