okay, this is a serious one - in both FF and Safari (mac) the theme will not display polls (!) - if the 'recent polls' block is enabled, the poll may be viewed and voted upon within the block only - but if one clicks 'view older polls' and attempts to click on a poll to see the page, the poll is *not* visible (though view results stuff is still there, but can not be seen) - same if item is clicked via the tracker - the poll title appears, options on upper left (view/etc) appears, but on the actual page there is no poll!

any idea what's causing this?

i am SOOOOO sorry if you wasted any time looking into this!!! i have found the issue - and it is NOT your theme. it is the img_filter module for d6 which has been updated to fix an issue in which (when enabled) polls could not be viewed!
