Hide/Show Comments by User Role

I need to hide/show the comments link and comments on nodes based on the priviledges based on user roles. I search the forum but I could not find anything about it. I am using Access Control to provide this functionality for fields (CCK) but I can no find how to do this for the comments. Please HELP!!
