I am setting this as a stand-alone feature request. I know something similar has been proposed in another thread, but it was in combination with other features. I am thinking about merely duplicating the contact module's core functionality for a parent_contact module and creating a relationship between the parent contact and the children in the orginal module. I'm not entirely sure what this would involve, but I've already started hacking away, trying to get this going. But I want to make sure this isn't already being developed somewhere... or that a new and very different version of this module isn't about to be released. I would then rather base my parent_contact hack on that newer version. Thanks for any input on where this module stands at the moment.

bomarmonk commentedSince I haven't heard any updates from this module's maintainer, for now I'm abandoning this module in favor of flexinode and an attempt to use the "related node" update for flexinode to achieve a hierarchal contact directory. This has also involved creating custom theming in my theme's stylesheet for flexinode (probably the trickiest part of this so far).
I would still be very interested in any further developments for this module, but for now my parent_contact hack is put on hold (I didn't get far enough with it to make it work-- it doesn't seem like it would be that hard, but I have a ways to go in learning PHP to any useful level).
