I know this is a "toplist" module, but it would be useful to be able to categorize links. This could be done possibly by integration with the taxonamy module. This could lead to a number of new features such as:

-dislaying categorized toplist blocks
-having categorized toplist pages

The categories should be set up through taxonamy by admin, and a drop down category selection box can be added to the link exchange request form and adminstration area. The first "toplist" page could display the categories and/or the top overall x number of links.

I'm not going to implement this, since I strongly believe that this is a need that only you have, but almost nobody has: the toplist module mimics the functionality of the referrals lists available in many packages, and frankly speaking I have never seen anything such as what you are asking for in any package out there.

If somebody has a patch, please attach it to this issue and I will evaluate that, but I do not guarantee the inclusion, especially if it breaks or modifies the default behavior of the module which must be kept as simple as possible.

You may be right, that a categorized link list is different from a top referrers list. I can manage without this functionality.
