Adding node to edition

I've been trying to wrap my head around the workflow involved in adding nodes to editions.

Is there no way of adding a node to an edition via the node form itself? The only way I've been able to add nodes to editions is to first create the nodes, and then visit the 'Manage headlines' portion of epublish/edit/edition/{eid} and click 'Add more headlines'. Is this currently the only way to add/remove nodes from editions?
