For either mail or phpmailer notification methods, it would be useful to be able to set on a per messaging settings basis the 'FromName' and the From email address.

Right now the default is to use the Drupal site_mail variable if set for both From and FromName.

The option could be appear on say /admin/settings/messaging/edit/notifications-event (via notifications module)
