drop down menu or parent children showing up below primary links

Has anyone been successful in allowing child menu items to show up below or as a drop down to the primary links? If so - would you be willing to share the code you have for this? Basically for each primary link (e.g. resources, community), I have child links like articles, interviews, etc...that I would love to pop up when you hover over each primary link. Any thoughts on how to get this to work?
