I'm relying on this for my site, so I thought I'd help out by testing.
I keep getting this error every time I create a new topic. Even when I go into content and directly click on the content this is what shows up.
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: dsm() in /home/tulefog/public_html/beta/sites/all/modules/advanced_forum/themes/advforum/forum-post.tpl.php on line 27
I'm using the Garland Theme for my forums. Also does the advanced forum module override pathauto?
This module looks really good and I really appreciate all the work that has gone into it so far!

It's a bit of debugging code that didn't get taken out before the last tarball. Just delete that line out of the file.
Advforum doesn't do anything with paths. Any paths are done by the forum module.
