Odd, I guess even if you override the css for a background image, it still tries to load it? I didn't see anything in Firebug, what browser were you using?
I have fixed this in the latest version.

Strange. The error "page not found" about "http://new.asntcolorado.org/sites/all/modules/supernav/images/treeview-default.gif"
still appear when I use Safari on Mac
[I am at supernav-6.x-1.x-dev_20080302]
I don't see it when I use Firefox on Mac.
