An error exist when drupal check the temporary directory, the string for the form is not correctly send to the function. It's ok for the files directory but not for temp (in setting admin).

Could you pleae be more verbous. I am not aware of this problem, my temp settnigs work just fine. Information about the "string" you refer to, and information about your environment will help too.
