I noticed that when new roles are added to a site, those roles will have "view" and "edit" abilities by default for each field, in each workflow state. This could be problematic for administrators with a lot of workflows. I imagine that the default behavior for roles to allow "view" and "edit" for fields is because it's easier to disallow a few roles for a few fields then to set them for all? Is it possible to have this be reversed, so the default is to have no roles selected to "view" and "edit" each field?

I'm away from the project site that has this working, but will try to verify soon on another site. Thanks for the quick response. I find the workflow fields module quite powerful and wonder if many people know about it? If I get around to it, I could create a videocast of setting up such a workflow. Thanks!
