Welcome to the invention called

the internet

  1. Try entering "pathauto" in the search field you should see in the top right of the window.
  2. Then press the button labelled "Search" that will make the search for you
  3. Then consult the documentation about installing modules.
  4. The documentation is the set of pages you may find if you click the button at the top of the screen labelled ... "documentation"
  5. To click, move your mouse pointer over the word and press the button you usually press. (often the left one, but this may change. If what you are doing doesn't work, try the other one.)
  6. To click, press down firmly with one finger, then release immediately, without moving the mouse while doing so.
  7. To read, please seek professional help.

The sarcasm isn't helping anyone.

I can't speak for the person who originally asked the question, but I for one am curious if anyone else has had this problem and how they have resolved it. I just installed the pathauto module - there were no specific installation instructions, so I went about it in the same way as any other Drupal module. The instructions for Pathauto assume that an option will be visible on the Admin menu. In my case it is not. I have enabled the module and granted the right permissions to my user account and, still, no pathauto option. I have tried accessing it by typing in the url directly - as in /admin/settings/pathauto, and I get redirected back to the Site Configuration page.

Any help would be appreciated.

My fault. I needed to go to page 2 of the search results. That's where I found this:

Hai,
Download pathauto from http://ftp.drupal.org/files/projects/pathauto-5.x-2.1.tar.gz.
It depends on 'path' and 'token' modules. Path is a core module. Just enable the module.
Token is downloaded from http://ftp.drupal.org/files/projects/token-5.x-1.10.tar.gz
