Drupal MySQL db access

How do I find my MySQL Database Username and Password for Drupal?

I recently uploaded my test site database to a fresh install of Drupal on my production host sever.

I can't access the database though and I've tried all usernames and passwords but for some reason I get access denied.

1) What is the proper syntax (prefix for databases and database access)?
2)Is there a table in the database to look this up?

I'm thinking this would be a general problem that could apply to any software that uses PHP and Mysql databases.

Oh yeah would this info be in my settings.php (although I've tried that too) and is the database hostname 'localhost', if not where would I find this?
