I think this is a GREAT module to be building. I assisted in the development of signup_ecommerce (just porting it over mind you -- keeping things active and all that) and this module would really be a nice alternative. However, you really will increase the user-base by adding say an extra module, like thus...

Something like that. You might even be able to borrow the code from the e-commerce module and adapt it to fit this module.

At present the only planned feature is for Paypal (the client did not approve the project yet).

If someone else wants to submit a patch for this, or fund the effort for it, then that is fine.

I realize -- being a developer myself that it's difficult to estimate cost. However, what kind of money would be involved in funding such a patch. I would think this type of patch would be less expensive and more utilitarian since there are countless scripts that use Authorize.net as a gateway (in general -- not just in Drupal).
