Hi, I was wondering if anyone knew how I can install a new theme on my site and still be able to keep the old block settings.

The problem I'm having is that the names and custom settings I've given blocks seem to disappear when I install a new theme. If I install this new theme with the same folder name (and remove the original theme) would that do the trick? Any ideas? Thank you.

blocks don't have a global setting, as of yet.
I don't see a module that does this either, though I only browsed quickly.

installing a new theme into an old theme folder I don't think will work correctly, but I suppose you could try. Though I can see where this idea would get messy.

VM, that was of much interest to me, as I'd always wondered why changing a theme often causes blocks to re-set. (Brief blogging on topic here http://www.drupalace.com/blog_entry_drupal_mystery_2_theme_and_blocks_ch... )

The note that there aren't global settings helps confirm that it isn't just me doing something wrong. Thanks!
