I'm about to throw this whole thing in the trash. I have a site that I've been pane-painstakingly crafted to work exactly how I ant it... and now I can't get the guest user (or anonymous) to view content... What's worse --- the ONLY way I can get the guest user to see content is to enable the "administer content types" permission!!!! What in the world is going on? My best guess is I have some other component in my node that needs permission -- but I cannot for the life of me figure out what it is.... someone please help!!!

Actually -- it's "administer nodes" permission. It's the only permission that will alow a guest to view any content... SOMEONE PLEASE HELP! I can't stand re-building and re-building with Drupal because of these quirks!

Have you tried rebuilding the node access tables? It's in Administer -> Content Management -> Post Settings or the admin/content/node-settings path.

SIGH OF RELIEF!! I found that answer on another post thankfully -- once I re-built everything returned to "normal" -- Man you can really start sweating beads when you've been working for so long on a site and then "ZAPP" something gets messed up. Thanks for your answer rernst. Man what a relief!
