Disabled "use abbreviation for display of country" still showing abbreviation

I've disabled the "user abbreviation for display of country" option, yet I am still getting an abbreviated country.
I am also using free-text entry for the Country and State values.
Funny thing, the first letter is capitalized, but the second letter is lowercase. Seems strange.

That might not be changeable due to a CCK restriction if I recall correctly. You would have to delete the field and make a new one. Perhaps I should add a note. I thought there was one, but I mixed it up with the middle name of my cck_fullname module, which has a similar issue.

I'm also having this problem. For the node type in question, the country field is automatically trimmed to the country's abbreviation even though I have disabled the "use abbreviations for display of Country" option. I can't make the entire country name appear :(
