I just created a story and intentionally chose NOT to promote it to the front page, partly as an experiment.
Now I cannot find this story anywhere. I am the site admin so can see 'everything'.
I googled around and found one post that suggests I should be able to see stories under 'my workspace', but I don't have 'my workspace' as a menu entry and I can't seem to add it.
So ... is there any way to get back to my story, and, can I view stories other than on the front page?
Thanks!

OK, workspace is a module, but still ...
I guess I can't edit my own post, so I'll add this:
I realised right after posting that 'my workspace' is provided by the 'workspace' module. Once I downloaded and enabled it, I could then view my story there. Great.
But I guess my question remains ... had I not installed 'my workspace', how could I have got back to my story, so I could edit/view it? What's the general idea?
Simple. Go to
Simple. Go to administer>content and you will see all your nodes (stories, blog entries etc.) there. You don't need the workspace module at all.
I am using 4.5, so the path may be slightly different in drupal 4.6
But what about a user-oriented view?
As the site admin, I can see stories as you describe, but what about visitors to the site? Is there a way to have 'stories' viewed somewhere other than on the home page?
Various
There are various ways to accomplish this, but here are some ideas:
* the cron.php is what creates the search index, so your new nodes are searchable
* add the page to a menu directly
* use taxonomy to categorize it and then use one of the many taxonomy blocks available to create some links into the content
